MONTEMERCURIO WINERY
Marco's grandfather, planted the first vine to make his simple wines. Little did he know how that small gesture would shape the future. After Damo passed away in 2005, the family decided to increase the size of their vineyards from a modest 3 hectares to 10. They planted a most precious grape variety, called Prugnolo Gentile, a Sangiovese clone that allows for the production of a top D.O.C.G. wine called Vino Nobile. Today you can taste the Montemucurio quality wines that speak of this land and the virtues.
The top wine in the Montemercurio portfolio is the "Vino Nobile Damo D.O.C.G." made using the grapes from the oldest single vineyard. The wine is dedicated to the memory of Marco's grandfather, who has made this dream, a reality.
The oldest documented reference for the wines of Montepulciano is from the year 789. Later around the year 1350, we find a historical reference to the term Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Among the family of wines from Montemercurio is a classic style Rosso di Montepulciano as well as the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The Damo is their top wine produced from the original 3 hectares planted by the grandfather almost 60 yrs ago. They also produce a small production of a white wine which is light and refreshing perfect for the warmer months.
