In 1990 husband and wife team Sandra Barenghi and Roberto Moretti bought the 29ha property and named it Querce Bettina. Following years of research about the terrain, they slowly started planting first olive trees and in 1999 planted 2.4ha of Sangiovese vines. Their estate is on the southwest slopes of Montalcino at an altitude of 440m above sea level. In 2009 they released their first vintage. Each year they produce a total of approximately 15,000 bottles wine including their Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino wines.

Their aim from the start was to create two exceptional wines:
Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. In years of exceptional weather and growing conditions, they release limited quantities of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG. They also produce Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the property.
The terrain’s favorable and unique nature allows for minimal anti-parasitic treatment with the exclusive sulfur and copper and the wines are certified organic. The aim is to choose only healthy grapes and the best bunches for the production of wines. Harvesting occurs preferably during the second half of September each year. The harvest is done by hand, and the best bunches are selected in the fields. Then a second selection prior to the rasping and pressing in the cellar. In this way, it is often a lower yield of production but allows Roberto to obtain natural wines without modifications that often reduce or inhibit active, natural components.
We are pleased to offer our friends, family, and guests the current 2017 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino. This vintage received a 4-star rating by the consortium of Brunello. Starting in January 2023 you can be among the first to taste the 2018 vintage as it will be newly released to the market.
